Numark CDN-25+G Professional Rack-Mount Karaoke CD Player

Anyone using this? Seems like a good deal for the $.
No key change but since I don't do bars, I rarely get asked to change key.

Mark, I have two stories to tell you..one very good, one not so good.

I have a friend who has used the unit nmultiple times and loves it. No problems.

The salesfolk at SamAsh indicate that these guys will not play anything burned at better than 24x....I have no proof of that since I do not own one, but for $300.00 I think it's a steal.

The best litmus test we have for a product is returns and failures. So far neither on this unit. Pretty solid for the price! As you noted, it does not have key, but it does have pitch control. Not an ideal way to change "key"... but I guess it would do in a pinch.

Hey Ben, do you guys have a demo unit to test this urban theory I heard at samash? Doesnt have to be a CDG. try throwing in a 48x burned cd.

Im glad to hear that this unit has a solid rep and so far solid record.

I've discovered a way to use the pitch key to fairly accurately do a "key change"

Seems that it occurs at every 3.8 degrees of pitch. I can take a DKG disk I have of a Roy Orbison song, pitch it up to 3.8 and it's equivalent to 2 steps (Which I think is a whole key) on my pioneer player.

Thanks Bill and Ben. I have seen this unit advertised for less than $200  and averaging around $250.00

Until Numark released this unit, the most popular cd+g player in a conventional dj style format was the Vocopro CDG8000 (now called the CDG9000). Numark did a great job releasing the player at half the price of the Vocopro! The one feature the Vocopro has over the Numark is the switched video output. Other than that....it's been an extremely reliable player.

Thanks,

Laura I appreciate your input on this board. Can you explain the switch video output on the VocoPro Vs. what Numark has?

I just installed this unit in one of my stystems today....Its ok, i'm a denon fan so i'm not big on using it for regular party use however for karaoke it has made my life alot easier. It does the job and for the price i couldn't go wrong. I give it 2 thumbs up right now, i'll give a report back in a week or so and let you know how it does in the field. I did put it though a simple test of "playing through the entire CD" and it was fine, no laser problems or draw errors.

Mark,

What laura is talking about with the switched video output is that with the vocopro no video mixer/switcher is needed. On that back the vocopro has 3 video outs. You can hook up each player to a video mixer or switcher(so you control the video) or a switched output. The switched output will take the video of whatever cd starts playing first and pick that video. Say side 1 starts paying first it will take the video of side 1. when you are done on side 1 and want to go to side 2, you play side 2. but it won't switch the video to side 2 untill you eject disc on side 1. thus no mixer or switcher is needed. Now if im correct(and i might be wrong) as for never seeing the numark. I believe that it needs some form of video switcher, as it doesn't have the built in switcher.

I have the Numark CDN25G but I haven't used it that much so I don't know about the reliabilty but it seems like a solid player. You need a video switcher which I bought at RS for under 20.00.

We got the Numark CDN25G, the 1st time I took it out the right player did not work. I took it back, got a new unit and it worked great...... for about 2 months. Then right player on the new unit went out. I'm taking it back and will try a 3rd.

Mark is correct about the switched video output....you'll need a video switcher with the Numark. I'm sorry to hear that you've been having problems Dice.

Wouldn't it be great if Numark could improve their DVD01 player and also incorporate CD+G capability?

Have had this unit in operation since it was released on the market. Love it. Very easy to use-just need a video switch(easily purchased at Radio Shack). I do bars exclusively and have not been asked once to use key change---so guess I don't need that feature. It's well worth the minimal investment. 2 THUMBS UP!!!!! :D :D :D

well, I have ordered it from Digital1234.com for $197.77
It's a bit of a gamble but I'll tell you how it goes. The web site says that they only sell brand new merchandise.

ok, got the unit (it only took a few days!). It's brand spankin' new. I installed it in my "cube" and gave it a test drive. Oh my! very nice having a duel deck! This will make karaoke much easier. I did get the radio shack 2 input video switcher. I hope it's as reliable as Numark cd players...

It would be very nice to have a dual dvd/cd+g player. Key change only would seem to be an easy task. You would just be altering the sample rate.

Purshase the Numark CDN25+G and had to send it back to Numark because the side won't display graphics. We have only used it a couple of times since then. I know another KJ host in Baltimore who had the same problem with two units and return the for a refund. FYI

I have the CDN25+G, bought is last September for one of our nightclubs that we have system in. I found out eight months later I fill in at the club and notice that deck 2 wasn't displaying the graphics correctly. I mention it to my DJ and he said it never worked right (duh). I sent it back to Numark under warranty, got it back and guess what, is still doesn't work.

A jock in Baltimore had the same problem, after the second unit he return it for a refund.
