Since when did being a DJ/MC morph into the following:

1) Can you bring your own table
2) Do you have a table covering
3) Hey...do you have an extra extension cord?
4) Do you have any lawn games, other then Corn Hole?
5) Do you have extra tape or duct tape I can borrow?
6) If we need an inverter generator, do you have one?
7) Can I put my extra stuff under your table?
8) Do you have a place where I can plug in my cell phone? It's dead...
9) Always from the photographer" is there an extra outlet behind your table? :hp14:
10) What do you offer other then music for outdoor parties?
11) We need a projector and screen, got em???
12) JP needs a sound system for the ceremony, but isn't that part of your contract price?
The said above list are just a few constants over the past couple of years. Look....we all want to offer a great service hands down, but the problem with the market in my area is that "everyone wants something for nothing". Whats it like out there.....Nancy from CMS

This isn't exclusive to your market. Every market will have people like that.

1) Can you bring your own table
Why don't you bring your own table? Never could figure out why DJs think it's the venue's responsibility to supply this.

2) Do you have a table covering
Why don't you? Venue's love it when your self sufficient.

3) Hey...do you have an extra extension cord?
Sure! Please make sure you return it before you leave. People love a helpful hand.

4) Do you have any lawn games, other then Corn Hole?
Why don't you have other games besides Corn Hole? If you're providing outdoor entertainment, then find more ways to entertain.

5) Do you have extra tape or duct tape I can borrow?
Sure, help yourself! I know what it's like to run out or forget mine at home...

6) If we need an inverter generator, do you have one?
Yes, I charge $XX. No, but you can rent one from...

7) Can I put my extra stuff under your table?
Sorry. I have all my stuff packed under there and have no space.

8) Do you have a place where I can plug in my cell phone? It's dead...
Sorry, no, but if you look over there, there's a wall plug...

9) Always from the photographer" is there an extra outlet behind your table? :hp14:
If there is one available, "Sure! Help yourself." Nothing wrong with being helpful without it affecting you.

10) What do you offer other then music for outdoor parties?
See #4

11) We need a projector and screen, got em???
Yes. I charge $xxx.xx. No, but you can rent them from....

12) JP needs a sound system for the ceremony, but isn't that part of your contract price?
No. But then you should've gone over all that during the contract signing
There's nothing here that can't be easily overcome.

I think the problem started (if you SEE it as a problem)...
when DJ's began offering more than just music and a few lights.
So, asking for "lawn games" is not that crazy of a question these days.

But my theory only applies to some of your examples.
I am more than happy to offer my clients some storage space or a few pieces of duct tape.

Most of what is on the list I have been able to accommodate. Most events I bring my own table but for weddings I have used the hall because most have them decorated in the wedding party theme.

If they want 'em, I have them, with the following exceptions that impact how I operate:

- No, they will not be able to store under my table. My bins are already there.
- No, Mr./Mrs. Photographer, my setup does not have the proper stowage for YOUR gear. The world's a stage, and you are on it. (The more pro photogs already know to stow their gear away from the DJ and out of sight.)
- No, I do not have a place for you to charge your phone/batteries. There are outlets near the restroom. My power is custom to what I need, and I do not have extra outlets. Perhaps the event host should not have turned down my offer of a charging station?

I don't mind if someone needs to borrow an extension cord, needs some tape, or if I have to use my own table/skirting. It's part of the business and being nice.

As for the rest, if it's to be used, it's to be priced, even if it is bundled into a package or chosen ala carte.

I COULD say "YES" to all of your questions but I "WOULDN'T" unless it was an emergency situation.
