Hello John,

Check out this thread that I started last March asking for help in deciding on a CD player:
http://start.prodj.com/viewtopic.php?p=40271&highlight=#40271

"What CD player should I buy?" is an easy question to ask but a difficult one for anyone else to answer for you. Kind of like: What car should I buy? or Where's the best place to go on vacation? It's fun to read what others have to say but the opinions will vary greatly and in the end you have to make the decision yourself based on what you need, like and can afford. There are more euipment options today than ever before which is a good thing but requires us to a lot more research when buying.

GoodLuck to you!

(By the way I ended up buying the Denon DN 4000 (which also plays MP3's) and have been very happy with it)

Since you had a Denon 2000 MKIII, I would also recomend the DN-D4000. I just did the same thing replaced a MKIII with a 4000. Although I have only had it for one day I am very happy with it. Same great sound and feel. Plus more features than the 2000, and it plays MP3 cd's.

I figured in the 5 years I had my 2000 I put over 1700 hours on it. The only thing wrong with it was the #1 drawer would not come all the way out sometimes. A quick hit of the open button as it went back in would get it to open all the way. I sold it on Ebay for over $200 and got a third of the original cost back out of it ( 1/2 the cost for me because I only paid 400 from a guy who was in need of money and the unit was only 2 months old).

Put the old unit up on Ebay and apply the money towards a new unit.
