My American Idol Thoughts

A story came across the wire at the radio station that Paula has negotiated a new contract for a healthy raise for future seasons of A.I. Why does Fox continue to use this airhead? Does the American public really love Paula?

Randy Jackson is just a notch above a moron. I just don't get it. He may have had a good career, but he just doesn't come across very intelligent. I submit that the show would not suffer at all if Fox was to drop them.

I go on record tonight to predict the top 2 singers this season.

K. McPhee and Chris D. will be the final two.

In a final note, the word FLAT describes most of the performances tonight.

My youngest daughter is a fan and I watched the last half with her. I know it's only based on opinion, but I think Chris and Kelly Pickler sounded best tonight. The others, including Bucky, were only mediocre. Even Taylor Hicks sounded bad tonight.

As far as RJ and Paula go, they're there to stay. It seems like Paula looked liked she was definately medicated with something tonight!!! RJ is just being RJ. What can I say?

I'd have to disagree. Kellie Pickler definitely did not look flat to me tonight. As for her singing...

I will agree that McPhee should be in the top 2. I love her.

Joe : the reason they keep Paula on is

the same reason DJ companies never hire a real dj, to test their products before commiting them to production.

Stupid morons deserve equal rights too.

They keep Paula on so that Simon Cowell has someone to argue with. Let's face it: as good as the singers might be, the real reason people watch this show is to watch Simon shred these kids to pieces.

Plus I think that the preteen/teenage girls who watch American Idol religiously like Paula. Personally, I really haven't watched intently since the first season.

As for Randy Jackson, I haven't been able to take him seriously since I found out he was the fat black guy with the leather pants, mohawk and polka-dot guitar who played bass on Journey's Raised On Radio album and tour.

I certainly agree with most that this is the most talented group in the history of the show. McPhee has showed many moments of greatness but my vote goes to young Paris and Chris.

I agree with Joe on Paula. I did an "On-Air" poll last time I was on. "Paula - Stay on or Get Off". My listeners (wierd ones - I fill-in overnight..LOL) say Paula should go by 2 to 1. I think they keep her on to see if she can "out do herself" each week.

As for the winner, I don't see myseld winning the pool, that's for sure (I have Ace), but I do see K. McPhee and Chris D. in the final two. and Katharine edging out Chris.

Keep checking the pool page on my site! (lower left 'Idol 2006')

Remember that last week McPhever was almost knocked out. I think she could be the winner. Judging just from last nights performance I think Taylor will go unless his true fans really call in for him. That was the worst performance of the night. It was an ok show, not as bad as last weeks. Again I say this is a very talented group and I will now start to hate it when they have to leave.

I had to agree with Simon last night. Everyone picked crappy songs.

Boooooring. My fav's are still Elliot & McPhee. McPhee is the best, I don't think Elliot will get near the top but I thought he was incredible when he sang Stevie Wonder so he's a sentimental fav for me.

I have to agree with the original post...McPhee & Chris D. will be near the top, if not the top two.

I know Idol is about testing the singers range and abilities, however IMHO last nights music style had no business on the stage... I watched most of the show on mute.... Now don't get me wrong, I like a good country song from time to time, but they have an entire show dedicated to finding the next big Country music singer, it's called Nashville Star http://www.usanetwork.com/series/nashvillestar/ . American Idol is to find the next Top40 (CHR, POP, R&B, Rock) Star. I don't understand why they (the producers) chose that genre of music? You want to be a country star, go audition for the Nashville Star show... Even the judges seemed lost, especially Simon so much as there was barely a positive feedback from any judge to any singer. OK, i'll step off my soapbox. :D

Actually I agree with Simon most all the time.

What does Paula really contribute? She never gives anything that the singer would really be able to learn from.

My favorite last night was Kenny Rogers. He looked good for his age, and I thought he was right on target with his assessment of each singer.

And for being his strong night - I thought it might be Bucky's last.

I thought Paris did well last night (agreeing with Simon). But look out for Chris in the end-

I love Paula.

I'd much rather watch randy, paula and simon than YOU!

People like Paula because all she does is say something nice.

Fine for a mom but not for a judge.

My impression of everything Paula says:

"(Insert contestant's name here) I love you. You know I love you. You are a musical genius, a beautiful singer. That particular song sucked and you sucked singing it, but I love you and everything you do is perfect and you are the next American Idol."

Simon and Randy: "That was lame."

Crowd: "BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

I'm really looking forward to them doing Queen next week. Especially Chris and Taylor. They ought to nail it. May be tough for Paris and Kellie, though.

Sorry to see Mandisa go so quickly. She would have been a shoe in for Queens "Fat Bottom Girls". (lol)

The kicker is that there a not really 8 Queen hits. Queen had a number of songs, but not that many were hits. Frankly, I can't beleive AI picked Queen to spotlight.
