Sometimes, I wonder HOW people (especially kids, tweens, and teens) KNOW songs. So, I'm always paying attention to songs in movies, TV, commercials etc...

Another good source is Dance Dance Revolution, and Just Dance.
Look below, and don't be surprised when 12 year olds start requesting the Run DMC Walk this Way ::)

My three kids, aged 8, 13 & 16 are addicted to the Just Dance series and own all the discs. We encourage it because it is active and also exposes them to all the great old tunes. Around here, it rains a lot in the winter so it's a great way for them to get active in the house, without trashing it, lol... They love to compete and try to out-do each other too!
Great post! DDR and Just Dance are great for discovering a variety of music! To continue off that thread, I believe just about any video game is a great source, especially the sports games. Many of them use popular songs and put them in the game, or even on the game's soundtrack. For example, I discovered a number of great songs just playing Madden.

Amazing how much music my 3 kids know ( ages 7, 10, 12 ).

Thanks to the internet / Youtube / ITunes / friends that have friends that have earbuds glued to their ears....for-get-about-it. Kids know more than we think.
Good point NinoDJ! Working in an elementary school, even the Kindergarteners surprise me! The stuff they know is crazy. They really are the cutest little sponges for better or for worse sometimes.
