Pet Peeves...

Mine?

People who use the acronym A.S.A.P. and don't know what it means. It's usually some middle-management d-bag who thinks it makes them sound important, "Get this done A.S.A.P."...

I had one tell me that once and then about ten minutes later, (while I was still accomplishing the task I was on before), ask if I got it done, when I said no, they got all pissy and said "I told you A.S.A.P.", to which I replied, "A.S.A.P. means 'As Soon As Possible', and since I am in the middle of *this* assignment, it hasn't been "possible" for me to get to your assignment yet, but I shall."

Well, they got all twisted and started trying to explain that A.S.A.P. means "do it right now" and I had to explain AGAIN, that no, it does not and if , in the future, they'd like me to drop what I'm doing and accomplish their new task, they need to say it in just those terms. They didn't last long in their new manager position! ;)

Ken -

I absolutely agree .... to have it done NOW, they should use the term "STAT."

"As soon as possible" is kind of ridiculous, isn't it.... I mean, possible for whom? Ha Ha Also, I agree that ASAP in NO way means "drop everything for this emergency priority" ... which would actually have the acronym DEFTEP. Hmmmm, mabe I'll try to trend DEFTEP?

I also have a grammar/spelling pet peeve

you're vs your

but I really try not to be a hater (if I think people mean well ;-) )

I had one boss who, I knew, when he said ASAP he meant drop everything and do this now. :) Ever had one of those bosses?

My peeve??? D-bags who drive with their 4 way hazard lights on when it rains. Not only is it illegal, but it effectively disables your turn signals, so you have these sniveling little morons changing lanes all over the highway with no indication that they are doing so. I don't know why they insist on doing this, but I just want to truck check them off into the median when they do this. If you're trying to let everyone else know that it's raining, I think they already knew. What possible benefit is there to blinking hazard lights on the highway?

Cut it out you f-tards!

Well, for those of us who live in the midwest, flashing hazard lights are normally used to indicated a slow moving or stopped vehicle. Most farm equipment doesn't travel faster then 20 mph. Actually it is illegal if you don't have your hazards on in that case.

Semi Trailers use them all the time on the interstates around here when they are getting up to speed. Cause some other "people" driving down the highway in their vehicles don't pay attention.

Actually, my pet peave is kind of along the same lines as Steve's - people not paying attention to their driving! And its not the kids that are the problem - its the dumb A$$ paying more attention to his GPS directions, then he is to the road signs.

Well, You're talking about an individual using them for what they're actually for.. not half the drivers on the road with their blinkers on going full speed... lol

When vision is obscured by rain, fog or dark using the blinking lights stupid. Half the time you make your vehicle harder to see because the lights turn off. Stupid.

Maybe that's why MY managers always ask "How soon can you do this?"

They know that MY version of "possible" is different from theirs.

Thank you. I thought it was just me.

My favorite: Dinner just gets served, everyone is sitting down to eat. Some "moe" comes up and asks, "So you gonna play some dance music and get things crankin' or what?" :-/ :bad-words:

Look, I don't walk into McDonald's and ask you "Hey, you gonna put salt on those fries or what?" while they're still in the fryer. So trust me to play the play the music when the time is right.
