I will say what I have said on another board....I don't get it... if Ben or I held on to YOUR money for 3 to 6 weeks, you guys would have had our heads on a platter... But for some reason, many are allowing this from this company... I just don't get it....

At what point do we actually see a message on this board from a rep from JAMSTAR?

The least they could do is sign up.

My first pair was ordered on 7/7/08

How long does it to put something together?

Are they individually soldering the leds to the board?

I would just like so info in print for rather than the usually blow my over the phone.

Maybe NickyB or one of the other few to recieve them can pursuade JAMSTAR to throw us a bone.

Sowndman : Because they are currently a "hot item", have received stellar reviews, the level of interest and the volume of orders places Jamstar squarely in the driver's set, doesn't it.

If this company had any integrity in the first place, buyers would not have been lied to about availability, shipping schedules, and when they'd be billed.

See, the key here is there's several dozens of folks just like you who are *****ing and whining, demands, and cajoling, but other than that, are sending Jamstar the message of "Please please please, send me mine for anybody else and I'll go away peacefully".

Very soon, we'll be reading posts of buyers (when they finally get a token light or two partial shipment delivered) who get a broken/defective try to get it repaired, replaced, or refunded.

Would somebody mind designing an animated gif of a flag with huge "I Told You So" written on it, just so that one click will answer the next phase of the Jamstar drama?

My one light arrived over a week ago. Took far, far too long, but it did arrive.

If they package them all like mine was, and if they are all built the same as mine appears to have been, people will be waiting a long time for an opportunity to say "Told you so!".

Plugged it in once to verify that it worked, but have not had time to test it further. Finally got around to getting Freestyler set up, and the Enttec interface set up. Next step is to solder up a conversion cable (5 pin to 3 pin) - the parts for which have been sitting on my bench for five days, waiting.

Since this is all brand new to me, I didn't mind waiting, although having the charge appear on my VISA right away was annoying. From others who called Jamstar, my understanding is that they now bill on shipment.

Given the listing of similar lights here for a similar or better price, I am not sure if I would order more. Then again, if I can't make a business case, there won't be any reason to order more of anything, anyways.... :)

I hope you guys never have to call for technical support. I agree 100% with Cap.

I already ordered lights from another company.

I highly recommend anyone who has been lied to by Jamstar read this page on the ftc website:

http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/buspubs/mailorder.shtm

Of particular interest is this paragraph:

Why You Should Comply with the Rule

Merchants who violate the Rule can be sued by the FTC for injunctive relief, monetary civil penalties of up to $11,000 per violation (any time during the five years preceding the filing of the complaint), and consumer redress (any time during the three years preceding the filing of the complaint). When the mails are involved, the Postal Service also has authority to take action for problems such as non-delivery. State law enforcement agencies can take action for violating state consumer protection laws.

I am one that is still waiting for these lights. It is a small American business that makes the lights as they are ordered. The lights are made with American parts accept the L.E.D.'s which are only made in China and assembled here in the states. Now all of you are whining...Most of you are buying gear from SELL OUTS who have decided to manufacture all their gear in China. I will give this small business the benefit of the doubt because they are trying their damndest to keep it real "American Made".
I have said in a past post that these lights are very attractive cosmetically and from what I hear they are very well built also. Getting away from the same old par can style to something sleek and stylish I am willing to wait for. I praise their innovation to break off from the same old par can style and I am very surprised that it did not happen sooner from the other big name producers of lighting gear. They have designed a product that has become very demanding because of its away from the usual look. If this product was manufacture by Martin you all would be bowing down at their feet saying "take your time I know it will be worth the wait, take my money I am not worthy". Give these guys a break.

Honestly I like the design of the lights, this has a huge selling factor. One thing that immediately turned me off, you can not daisy chain the IRC cables. This really cuts down on extension cords and setup time. Just the fact that this companies promises and falls short really ruined any postive word of mouth or considerations that was initially stirred up. Just my 2 cents.

Give these guys a break.
The problem is they promise everyone delivery dates knowing that it's not going to happen. When you have jobs booked with these lights and they don't arrive in time...that becomes a problem.

I've been given three different shipping dates already with none arriving.

I would have rather had them tell me "we are back ordered for 3 months, etc." I would have then shopped elsewhere. What they do when you call is tell you it takes 10 days to build and then we will ship them out to you. They know it's not going to happen...but they just want you order.

Johnny:

I have to agree. That might have been OK when they were caught with a huge flood of orders unexpectedly, but that point passed some time ago.

By the sound of it, I was one of the few ordering from outside the USA. They called and promised overnight delivery a third time, and told me they had finally figured out how to ship internationally. When the product arrived exactly how and when they promised, I have to admit that this may have some credibility. However, shipping to those in the continental (sp?) USA has no such excuse.

Were I in need of lighting, I would have gone elsewhere. This is for me a toy, to see if I can make it work in my setup, and to experiment enough to see if it is something worth moving into. Otherwise, their business practices would have been totally unacceptable.

The real question is - are they learning? Are they doing anything to resolve things? It is always a tough decision for a small company - bring on more staff, invest in training them, only to have to lay them off once the initial wave has passed and business settles down to what was expected.

I have seen lots of people figure it was only a peak, and be right - and seen others who misjudged a peak when it was a high plateau, with the result that they drove customers away and effectively killed their company.

Not Good

We are all in business, and when someone purchases an item, you know how many items you need. its not that hard, if they are waiting for a compnay on parts, start looking into another company and order from them as well, your better off having to much then too little. i ordered 51 jamstar elites back in the 1st week of july, they shut me up by sending me 1. they have a great product yes, butttttt, there should be no reason for the huge delay! We are all losing money by not having these lights, im sure we are all trying to expand our businesses, but in no way is this delay helping us at all!! It just seems that they do not care about the future of there company, they can not expand with more products if they can't get 1 product out on time! they should be very concerned and be in direct contact with each consumer no matter how big or small the order. For a person that laid out 5G's on this company i am not happy!

On another note, we all know that the unexpected does happen, but if you dont stop the bleeding fast enough your Screwed!

SEND ME MY PRODUCT!!!!!!!!
