Howdy,

The new iPhone 7 and 7+ were announced today!!

DJs take note of a few of the new features:

- Confirmed, the earphone jack is gone! Adapters to connect earphones to the lightning plug will be required for feeding a system with 3.5mm jacks.

- Do you blog, snap photos, or do video? The camera optics have been upgraded for better lighting.

- Do outdoor events? It is water resistant!

The whole host of features can be found at http://www.theverge.com/2016/9/7/12758236/apple-iphone-7-announced-features-price-release-date.

Check it out!!

The best was Amazon releasing pictures of the iPhone 7 an hour or so before Apple did the big reveal.
Apparently Amazon went live...early...on their website with the pics in their dedicated "iPhone 7 Accessories" section.
Too funny! I'd love to be a fly on the wall at the meetings this faux pa will generate. "Heads are gonna roll!"

For the whole funny story: http://gizmodo.com/amazon-just-blew-the-lid-on-the-iphone-7-1786326033?utm_campaign=socialflow_lifehacker_twitter&utm_source=lifehacker_twitter&utm_medium=socialflow

I'm actually interested in this phone now. Funny how all this stuff leaks out from Apple now, makes these conferences less fun to watch. I figured they would come out with some wireless buds hearing that the headphone jack was gone. Have the Jaybird X2's and although I like them they I love the way the apple buds fit my ears.

I still have an iPod classic, which works well for critical event songs and hours of personal listening.

The fact these do not have a headphone jack just made unplanned requests to hook them up to systems to "play their song" or have a ballroom hookup moot, unless some retrofitting takes place.

Apple leaked their own event, posting to Twitter well before the conference. I bet Amazon took that as a license to launch the new accessories for sale.

Can't wait to see what the tenth anniversary brings!

Any suggestions for ear buds that include a quality head worn mic for talking on the phone that will work with the iPhone 7?

The newest generation of BOSE Headphones apparently anticipated this and are nicely equipped with a recessed microphone for phone applications (QC 35). Not necessarily my choice for gigging, but fear not, BOSE usually raises the bar and everyone else follows. In checking to make sure I got the model # correct I went to their website, and they have several wireless models and have for a while, that offer this feature. https://www.bose.com/en_us/products/headphones/wireless_headphones.html

It is my understanding that BEATS by Dr. Dre (Headphones) not only come with this feature on their Bluetooth cans as well, but they've just debuted new wireless headphones to coincide with the release of the iPhone 7. This not at all surprising given that BEATS is now owned by Apple. Beats gear seems to be a little more "road-worthy" than the BOSE headphone line IMHO.

These are cheap but my 'daily drivers' https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010F8LF7I/. I use them almost every day to listen to music while exercising. They also have a mic and it's great quality. I have a big head and usually the dongle style bluetooths rarely pick up my voice or people tell me it fades in and out due noise cancellation and my voice being very deep (at least that's my theory anyhow). I've taken a few calls with these and people say they can hear me clear as a bell.

I just looked them up on Amazon. I bought them last August so I've been using and recharging them for a year, they've been washed and dried once, and they're still going strong. To be sure they're definitely not for audiophiles but for background music while exercising and the occasional phone call I've been very happy with them.

For ~$20 you cannot lose. I bought a second pair for backup and haven't had occasion to use them yet. I bought my sister a similar pair of Anker brand BT headphones that sound better than the G-Cord but have no mic.

Anker makes great stuff! Their charging stations are wonderful.
+1 on Anker. I have one of their portable chargers, a couple of their plugin chargers, and a car charger. I like their "IQ" tech that automatically supplies more amperage to devices that can handle the juice.

While not Anker, I wound up Velcroing one of these to the back of my nightstand. It got rid of a surge protector strip that used to sit in front of the nightstand for all the various chargers. It still looks like an octopus with all the USB cords coming out. I use a couple of 3M Command hooks to route and hold the wires when not in use.

PS: Those command hooks aren't as 'finish friendly' as they purport to be one took the finish off a spot on my nightstand.
