Nope, and not liking the demand that I am guessing means the DJ must play songs from the quests mobile phones.

The $300 price limitation is a deal-breaker to start with.
What they are expecting to get for $300 is just as bad...
but if they expect you to be a phone-jockey and play "god knows what" from the guests...
that's the biggest red flag of them all.

No kidding the $300 is a deal breaker, but I am with you, even if the was better, the "phone-jockey" demand would still kill it for me.

Nope. Nancy, wish them luck, and indicate that you are not a good fit(which I'm sure you have)

Thanks for the feedback on this everyone. Even if I had no jobs booked in May, I would not have taken this one. I am glad it's not me. This business is getting tougher and tougher every year with competition coming at you from every direction. I am in awe at the conversations with potential clients and e-mails that I have had over the past several months. Other then my first born( which anyone can take) everyone pretty much wants everything for nothing. Be well..Hi bill

That's why I'm glad I'm a part-timer.
I can say "no" and not drop my pants, (I mean, "rate") if I don't want to.
I just quoted a non-profit $300 for an event.
Imagine if I regularly charged $300 for gigs...how low would I have to go when I charge non-profit groups?

It's good to see that the economy has improved. I remember a time during the recession that many here would've had no issue taking this gig. It's nice that we can once again be choosy. -Z-

Economy has improved? Sorry but whatever you're smokin', I want some! Yes unemployment is "down" but only because they drop out the number of people that stopped looking because there are no jobs to be had. Also, many who lost their jobs are settling for lesser paying jobs which reduces their spendable income. And then I might mention how many companies are fleeing the USA due to higher corporate taxes and with the minimum wage being increased to $15/hr, I can see McDonald's hamburgers going up to $7 a pop. BUT one can still be choosy!

Maybe we will see O.J. Simpson working there when he gets out. He was there the night of. Ask Kato. And Furman planted blood in the men's room for proof.

Of the many red flags, the one overlooked by all so far is the fog machine... it's not up to the client whether or not fog can be used; it depends on the fire control systems of the venue. Could they use that as a "breach of contract" excuse to not pay me should the venue nix the fog? ;)

Hey Ken, You are spot on, but can't the customer demand what you should bring, tell you what they do or don't want Etc. Etc. . Not to worry because the customer will tell you how to do your job:hp14: Sometimes I really get angry about this stuff. I saw a request just the other day that said " I will provide you with a 4 hour play list!!!!
I wanted to reply " sure no problem, but I am putting in my contract that the songs I don't have, you provide or find someone else. Maybe I have been in the biz tooooooo long.
