I am very saddened to hear this news. I have incredibly fond memories of Lou Rawls. He would play concerts (usually twice a year) at a casino resort here in the Reno area. After nearly every show, he and members of his band would occupy a booth near the back of the lounge where I would be DJing. They would order drinks, socialize and occassionally even order up some requests.

I would often get compliments from Lou whenever I would pass by his table to say "hello". He was a gracious and wonderful man. After seeing him on many occassions (at his booth), I was pleasantly suprised one night when he came out to the dance floor. He must have danced for 2 or 3 hours that night. He had a great time and I was simply thrilled to entertain HIM.

He was a class act. One of the nicest celebrities I have ever met. I am really bummed to hear this news but I know he is in a better place now!

I heard about Lou's passing around 11:30 this morning. What a great voice and what a loss to the industry.

Our condolences...... :(

To quote one of his album titles - "When You've Heard Lou, You've Heard It All"

We'll never find another voice like his. My first recollection of seeing him perform was on the old "Midnight Special" shows that ran on NBC in the early 1970s.

Rest in peace Mr. Rawls.

One of the most amazing voices I have ever heard and one of the most sincerely friendly people I have ever met. We were introduced by a mutual friend and spent only about 20-30 minutes chatting, but it was as though we had been old friends. He was truly a man of class and grace.

If there's a rock-n-roll heaven, you know he's part of the band.

Rest in peace, Lou........
