Enid - Two people have been killed after their motorcycle crashed into the back of a pickup truck in Garfield County.

It happened Sunday near Enid. Police say a motorcycle driven by Chad Beckham of Lahoma skidded nearly 160 feet before hitting the rear of the pickup. It then slid about two hundred more feet before coming to a stop in a field.

Both Beckham and his passenger, Kacie Markwell of Ringwood, were killed in the crash. Police say neither were wearing helmets.

If anyone is interested in contributing for flowers, shoot me a email.

Kaylee is probably going to need some help to cover and get up to speed. Any volunteers?

Any locals?

Kaylee -

Sorry to hear about the loss of another fine member of our DJ community. Go ahead and give me a call when you get a chance and I will be able to help you find someone that will be able to help you out with the events. I know many DJ's in the Oklahoma area and can most likely help you. There are a bunch of great DJ's down there with huge hearts that would be willing to help.

Thanks!

I am very sorry to hear of your loss, it's a loss for all of us!

We have two folks on this board, Big E "Eldon" and Dave from DnD (I know we have a few others, just cannot recall who they are) who are close to you and can help.

If he is willing to drive from Dallas, Jim Weisz is another possibility...

I also reccomend a call to both Peter Merry at the ADJA and Bruce at Name to get you some help.

Let us know what help you need, we will find it for you!

I would be more than happy to take a call from you if you need to talk about anything. Drop me an email or PM me if we need to come your way to help out.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss, especially in an accident like that. Our prayers are with you and all the familys involved...

Kaylee,

Sorry to hear about this tragic loss.

My advice is to simpply "close up shop". Any of the events that Chad had booked previously should be called, and the circumstances explained to them. Let them know they'll have to make other arrangements for their entertainment. If you have a list of a few other dj companies that you could refer them to, that would be great. Did he have any other friends who had dj companies? I know that if something happened to me, I wouldn't want my non-dj friends and family to be burdened with the task of holding my old business together.

If I can be of any assistance, feel free to call me at 1-800-903-3830 any time.

I understand your desire to honor Chad's commitments, and your concern that you may not be able to fill his shoes at an event.

You might consider contacting each of his outstanding clients to explain the situation. Give each client the option of working with you and/or your assistants, or to arrange for other services. Anything past the summer? Find a way to refund their retainers and allow them to look for other services. If Chad's parents object and insist that the business stay open, allow them to run it.

You will need to start separating yourself from this accident at some point, and running his business through New Years will not allow you to do that any time soon. Although I never met Chad, I know what my wishes would be for my wife if she were in the same position... and I would not want her to be shackled to my DJ company, especially against her better judgement.

I am really saddend to hear of this. I have seen Chads posts a few times and for him to come here meant he was a real professional dedicated to improving himself and helping others. Please feel free to ask for any advice and please take the advice that others have given. My thoughts are with his family tonight.

I remember some of Chad's posts

My heart goes out to his family who must be mourning his passing away

Most importantly, I hope he knew and served the Lord, because this is the only thing that once you die.

Guys, the Death rate is 1:1...Let's reflect on why we are here and what we need to do to prepare for eternity

thanks again guys chad was really big into church was a youth minister for years. the only gigs im doin are the ones that he already had booked im not booking any other ones. yes his parents want me to run it but his dad cant his dad had both his kidneys removed years ago and is only runnin on one they are really supportive with me and the business and whatever choices i make. im only lettin people help me that helped chad no one else. i have contacted the customers to let them know what happened some of them trust me and some of them dont i have lost alot but i did give them references of the djs that chad gave to clients. but his parents and i cant afford to completely cancel all of them we dont have that kind of money. cause some of the clients paid in full and chad has already bought new equipment with that money so if you guys can give me any ideas let me know

It sounds like Chad's future gigs are probably well-handled internally.

As a courtesy to clients who were perhaps specifically expecting Chad, I would allow them to cancel, though since you are technically able to fulfill the contracts I wouldn't necessarily offer any deposits back. (After all, considering the situation you could just keep their deposits AND not provide any services). On the other hand, this was Chad's responsibility and he's not here to fulfill it. That doesn't mean that you or his parents or anyone else have to. Very likely you could sell off his equipmet to more than cover the deposits he had received for events so you might want to think about that, too.

It's very noble of you to try and honor his committments. While it may be painful, it also may be somewhat therapeutic for you and some of Chad's other friend/roadies. It's hard to say. Just don't take on more than you can handle.

That said, we have a large company that covers OKC and Tulsa. If we can help with roadies, covering gigs or whatever let me know. I'm sure we can work something out. PM me here and I'll shoot you back our email address and phone number if you need it.

Good luck with this and God Bless.

Steve
