I contacted Denon support the other day to ask them about my right player button on my DN-MC6000 sticking. Sometimes it does nothing. Sometimes it plays a milli-second of the track...

You know what they told me... For $400, we can put a new board in it for you!

The more I investigate this, the more I see others having similar problems.

Has anyone had a similar problem with this controller? What did you do?

Denon was ignorant and no help.

for less than $400 you can buy a new one at guitar center.

you could try cleaning under it, if possible. i think i remember similar issues with their cd decks a while back and some users did that.

My trusty old Denn DN-S1000 decks are still going strong but then, they are made in Japan. Now I believe, all there decks are made in China.

Similar here, 3 buttons on the right side can be a little touchy, but nothing that really affects my performance.. I think DJSkinnyGuy is right, a clean underneath may help it.

Show me where this is available... and I will buy one.

No reply from Silvio (from Denon)... just as I thought. Denon has an issue with this and treat customers TERRIBLE when they try to get help on this issue. This may be the last Denon I buy.

Hey Guys,

I have been a Denon fan since way back to the early Denon 2600 dual CD players. I strayed only a brief time a few years ago back and purchased a Pioneer dual CD player… I think it was a 3000 or something. I ended up selling it a few months later, as it didn't have the Denon quality and feel that I've always enjoyed. When the MC6000 came out, I thought it was easily the best player I've ever used and I fell in love with it. But as much as I hate to say it, I am now having the exact same issue that djmm is describing, and ironically enough, it is with the right side only. I go to mix a song in from that right side, and I click the play button and only a milli-second plays. It's actually quite embarrassing, as I can have a great set going and I go to mix that song in, and if I'm doing it near the end of the outgoing song, it sounds like I really screwed up the mix. It initially started doing it very rarely, but it is doing it quite often now. I will be following this thread very closely to see what sort of other things I'm hearing. I'd hate to have to switch from Denon, but if this keeps happening, I'll have to find another solution… a real shame, as until now, I've loved that unit, and in fact, I've really been hoping that they would create a new version soon that would have more features. Thanks for sharing your issue.

Maybe that's one of the reasons they are selling them off so cheap... I feel bad for you guys, it sucks major.

Hey djmm, sorry to hear about your trouble.
When you say called Denon, who did you call?
Was it 630.741.0330, if yes, have a name?
If not, you may have contacted an authorized Denon repair center that could have quoted you that price for out of warranty repair.

Anyway, to me it sounds like a bad or dirty TAC switch.

I don't want to hijack this thread but it's not just Denon ..... I lost all faith in Pioneer as well when I UPS'd my top-end mixer to them. They kept it for more than a month then sent one back that wasn't mine (different serial number) that still had a completely different problem. It seems that the quality of and pride in workmanship has gone south in many companies.

Silvio, I have experienced problems with my Denon DN MC600 freezing with VDJ. I have followed all the instructions and configurations. I can't seem to get an answer or support from Denon via e-mail or phone and I don't think you should have to be a programmer to use that. I can't trust this product. For a while, I used 2 Denon 120 media players as a backup (one on each side of my 6000). That became too much of a pain in the neck to set up, so I went with the Numark Mixdeck Quad, which is everything in one. I hated to do it, because the sound a Numark puts out isn't nearly as good, and it isn't made as well.

Maybe it's me, but I think anyone who relies on just a laptop and controller is asking for trouble.

I wish Denon would put out an all-in-one (controller, CD/mp3 and media player) or at least size the components so I could fit them in one Odessy case instead of 3.

It got worn out. After wearing out the buttons on some of my favorite things over the years I'm gentler than I used to be on my buttons. Maybe you are too and maybe these buttons are just flimsy cheap parts. A chain is as strong as it's weakest link right?

DJEthan, thanks for your post.
First place to start is to check if you have the latest firmware installed.
How to check is here:
http://www.denondjforums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=17954

Next, what VDJ skin are you using default or custom?
What mapper are you using, default or custom?
Are you using our ASIO version 2.22?
Did you try another USB cable?

I had a button on my right side of MC-6000 and instead of sticking it would just not work:
So I called up Denon they said to mail it back in and they would replace the board-
They had it for 1 week- then it was back in my hands. It was under warranty at the time and now is not!!

I have not had any sticking or button problems since

I was one of the first here to go all in with a Lappy and a Controller and I'm still loving it.

If you have any issues the 1st Line of Defense is checking that your FIRMWARE is up to date.

90% of the cases I've seen where there's an issue with a controller was because the firmware was not up to date with whatever software the jock was using on their Lappy.
We all love it when VDJ, Serato, or whomever puts out an update, but how many of us read the details to see if there's a separate firmware update that's required? Hey, I learned that the hard way, so I'm not judging, I'm just trying to spread the lesson I learned.

The Good News with VDJ and DENON Controllers is also the bad news; they are so sophisticated and capable of so much, setting them up is not just a matter of slapping in the RCA cables and then rocking the party. Maybe it's me because I'm getting older, but I now have to read the manual before I assemble something at the level of a DENON product.
