Hi Everyone,
I was just contacted by the cheerleading coach at a middle school that I've been DJing dances for the last few years. She wants to me to put together a custom mix for them, complete with sound effects.
Something like these: http://www.custommixes.com/samples.htm

Does anyone know where I can get "chearleading" sound effects like the ones in those mixes?

Thanks,
Greg

To get the sound effects, hits, beds and trails you hear in those promos, you need to purchase a series like the "Greymatter" series.
A company like JonesTM would sell these compilations.
Most likely, the beds were quantized and layered with beats using Acid Pro or a similar program.
It's a major investment to make beds like these. Then, you have to have the talent for combining them in interesting ways that also fit the routines.

www.cheermusicstore.com

they sell a lot of that stuff and it is downloadable from their site. Good people to deal with.

I'm friends with a guy who does some of their mixes.

I have been doing cheer mixes for the last 4-5 yrs.
I have ons of effects and vocals if there is something in particular you are looking for maybe I can help.

I don't know if I'd want to be a 40 year-old guy buying a cheerleading magazine.

Jon: Why do you have to be so mean?

I'm just trying to do the right thing here.

-BP-: Look, I'm trying to be strong for my squad, ok?

That's what a captain does.

Jon: Well, I'm a captain too, you know, and I'm trying to make it right.

-BP-: You wanna make it right?

Then when you go to nationals...

Bring it.

Don't slack off because you feel sorry for us.

That way, when we beat you, we'll know it's because we're better.

Jon: I'll bring it.

Don't worry.

-BP-: I never do.

OH, you guys must own a copy of "Bring It On" and watched it one to many times.

I just spend last weekend at a cheering competition in Providence. My little one competes on a squad.
I do know that most of the coaches use to be cheerleaders.

Thanks guys for all of the responses! I think I might have found what I'm looking for, thanks DJ_Xtreme00.

In particular, I'm looking for a "shooting star" sound effect, or something similar to it. If anyone knows where I can find just that one effect, that'd be great.

Thanks! :D

My oldest daughter is on the defending national UCA champions senior all-star squad. Remember the name: 'Desoto Starz' from Southaven, MS. Lookout Orlando, here we come again (March 10th)!

Sorry for the O/T diversion. I couldn't help myself.

I don't love it.
The songs match up BPM wise 116
and you blew the mix.

The VO sounds cheesy.

I recut it in Mixmeister.

Send me an email, and I will forward it.

Thanks Jon. As far as I can tell, most cheer mixes sound cheesy straight thru (my own opinion), but thanks for the feedback.
The VO is actually part of a full intro "ladies and gentlemen..." but I cut the ladies and gentlemen because I was informed after the fact that this song was going to be their 2nd song.

I'd love to hear your cut and learn from it since this is my first venture into creating a cheer mix.
