Well, I’ve been a BOSE owner for about a monthnow. I just wanted to thank Cap for hishelp. He had my two L1’s with B2 bassbins to me in two business days!

I set them up in my garage and played some good “sonic”music (Van Halen, Queensryche, Pink Floyd, Earth Wind & Fire). Good golly! I thought “this is what people on shrooms must hear!” LOL.

My first gig with them was on June 8. I used one for the outdoor ceremony and onefor the indoor reception. I was nervousabout only using one but it sounded great. Tons of compliments from guests too (just like everyone on the boardtold me I’d get).

On June 22 I did a reception with 475 guests. Unfortunately I was on stage in the cornerand didn’t have enough speaker cord to place one of the L1s on the oppositeside of the room. Nonetheless, theykicked some serious tail! I believe that’sthe loudest I’ve ever played. My earswere ringing and I had a small headache but the crowd loved it! I got a compliment from the Groom’sgrandfather on how good they sounded!

On June 29 I finally got to set them up the “rightway” (on opposite sides of the head table) at a reception with 250 guests. AWESOME!

On July 3 I used one at a backyard 4[SUP]th[/SUP] OfJuly party with about 50 guests. Itworked just fine! I’m spoiled now onlyhaving to use one speaker sometimes!

TO SUM IT UP…
I am glad I bought them! So easy to set up, they look great, and theythump (when need be)!

I know our board is slower these days but it hasbeen such a wealth of information and help for me to become a better DJ and businessowner. If it weren’t for the board Iwould never have known about the BOSE speakers or Lynch’s photo booth, amongstother gear and tips I’ve gained here that have been such a big help. Ijust wanted to say THANK YOU.

Missed Opportunity For BOSE Owners & Non-BOSE Owners

Many more qualified than me can speak to the sonic eargasm that is the BOSE L1/B2 experience.
What I want to talk about is the marketing power one gets by having/offering BOSE.

Remember, when one markets to a consumer, or potential consumer, you are targeting their perspective, not another DJ's perspective. The consumer brand recognition of BOSE is the stuff fortune 500 companies dream about. The brand recognition of BOSE amongst consumers is that this is just about the best audio product available to mere mortals who aren't audio-philes and/or extremely wealthy. When prospective clients learn I offer a BOSE professional sound system it's like all of a sudden they want me, and the BOSE upgrade (or package which includes the BOSE system) all the more. It's like shooting fish in a barrel...it's almost unfair. I've even seen Bar/Bat Mitzvah Mom's, notoriously not electronics savvy, lose their minds.

Usually that's all without having to explain what the BOSE system can do that 99% of all other DJ sound systems cannot. Here's the thing. Year in & year out, the number 1 complaint about DJs is "The volume was too loud/my guests could barely talk to one another while sitting at their table". The BOSE L1/B2 system offers the long sought after solution to the DJ's desire to rock the dance floor, yet not piss off guests that want to talk, without shouting/having to struggle to hear one another, at their table. You offer that to a client and if their not all over it, odds are they don't have a pulse. Take it to the next level and print out some of the visual explanations BOSE has of what makes their system different (i.e. sound dispersion diagrams) and place it in a nice little packet. That really is the ultimate sales tool...if you ever actually need it.

Finally...I've noticed clients and prospective clients see me differently once they are aware I offer BOSE. Again, the brand recognition and product image is just amazing. It makes me look better and more credible for offering it (which is interesting since my referrals are almost exclusively WOM). I could easily resent that as I have worked hard to build my reputation on other things, but at the same time, why fight it? BOSE has spent millions, if not billions on brand management, advertising, as well as R&D, I ponied up my hard earned money to purchase one of their systems, why not get the full coat-tail riding experience their spending has afforded me?

I implore my friends out there who offer BOSE to not miss the marketing power you now own. -Z-

I hear ya Steve. I'm revamping my website right now and as soon as it's done my price is going up by at least $100 if not more, simply because of the BOSE.

UNDJ : While marketing your brand in conjunction with a widely acclaimed recognized brand to a customer is a good temporary strategy, if your are among the first in your area to have the L1 products (the L1 Model Compact, the L1 Model 1"S", or the L1 Model 2), I would suggest going after the banquet facilities in your specific region that are well-known acoustical nightmares first, and as fast as possible.

Call the facility owner/manager and ask them if you can bring your new system into their facility for a test run some weekday afternoon (not weekends) . Being one of the first in my area almost 9 years ago (where the hell did that time go to????) to use a pair of the L1 Classics and four B1 bass bins (back then it was called the PAS until some issues with the name popped up). I explained to them in my meeting request that I have a brand new highly touted pro-audio sound system from Bose, and they guarantee that it will almost, if not completely, eliminate rumble, echo, slapback, feedback and even people seated within 5 feet of speakers can carry on a conversation without screaming while the system was at full dance floor motivational volume.

They knew their facility was severely challenged. They secretly blamed the DJ or band because "they didn't know how to run their stuff" yet everyone in the business knew it was the room...period.

In all seven meeting, the owners, the GM,s , the Operational VPs, the Sales Mnger were in attendance even though I didn't ask that they would need to be. Ran a demo using mics directly in front of the sticks, played their favorite songs as we strolled the room unsuccessfully finding any bad or dead spots. No echo, no rumble, no slapback, even when humping the volume of techo and old skool rap.

In all seven cases they were astounded, impressed, complimentary almost to the point of embarrassment, and if Cap Capello wasn't already in their top three recommended list, he was now. Someone has finally cured their acoustical ills. That prestigious equipment based positioning lasted for about a year. At least two or three dozen other local DJ solo and multi ops also jumped on the L1 train. Why so many? Because the local folks listened to banquet managers and owners and customers rave reviews and, unfortunately for me, not other non-user DJs.

Try it. See where it takes you.

I will say this... They can (like any loudspeaker) can be made to sound bad.

I worked a photobooth rental where the DJ was using one L1 and it \ he sounded like hell. Could not understand his announcements, music not very pleasant.

Soooo... bottom line. Listen to experienced users of the product on setup and make sure the other electronics in the chain are up to the quality level of Your beloved Bose.

Which is exactly why people should buy from Cap. BOSE is a very intricate and sophisticated piece of hardware. Cap will walk you through each piece of gear the system comes with, have you assemble it in the correct order (fully explaining all options) and then, will walk you through the fine tuning process...which is NOT intuitive, you need someone who knows what they're doing to explain it to you and walk you through it.

Let me be real clear, one does NOT get this when purchasing from a brick & mortar store or directly from the BOSE website. For the kind of cake a BOSE system costs, you want, and will all likely need strong support AFTER your purchase. Cap's support is both awesome and legendary. -Z-
