My biz partner and I will be in the Louisville KY this weekend. Our original plans have been cancelled so we will be wandering aimlessly in the streets. If any DJ's want to network while we're there just give us a shout.
This is probably one of the best weekends to be in Louisville. I am really hoping you have a place to stay already because you won't be getting a hotel anywhere close.
Our Kentucky Derby Festival starts off this weekend with the annual Thunder Over Louisville. It is the biggest fireworks show in the world (Or at least it's been billed that way for years). A whole day of fun on the river, air shows, planes, music, lots of fun. The night ends with about 30 minutes of fantastic fireworks over the Ohio River. Truly one of the most fantastic displays I have ever seen.
All you need to join the fun is nothing. You might need to buy a Derby Festival Pegasus Pin to get into certain areas down town like the Chow Wagon on the Belvedere, I think they are $3-$5 but other than that it is a free event. Park the car. Walk down to the river and enjoy the day. Most everyone in the city will be there.
Enjoy my fine, beautiful city. I've lived here all my life and have yet to see anywhere that can compare with it to me. It's got a small town feel with a big city atmosphere. I think you'll enjoy yourself.
We are staying in Brooks which is about 15 min south of town. We have heard all about the activities downtown and it sounds like a blast. We are going to try to find a room in that area so if we want to drink we can walk to the room. after all, we were pulled over 1 mile outside of the airport, so we don't want to chance it after some sweet Kentucky bourbon...
