Hey Guys,

I have a Toshiba Satellite Laptop (1.5 gig celeron). I've had for the last two years and well it's done it's job. Ever since I've upgraded to PCDJFX it seems to not be able to perform as well as it did with PCDJRED.

I've been looking for a laptop recently for performance and right now don't have a choice since the background light in my screen is going out. I know I can carry a monitor around with my laptop but after 2 years without one well it's time to upgrade.

I've looked at alot of laptops but leaning towards the Toshiba A75-2311, 3.2 P4, 100 Gig HD, etc, etc.

If you have any advice on a solid laptop that will handle PCDJFX without a problem please feel free to drop a few lines.

Thanks,
Luis

I am currently on an HP laptop and love it for DJing as a backup for my rackmount.

Just got a Toshiba A70 and it's pretty good. I would stay away from celeron if you are going to use ANY audio program. From what I hear Toshiba is very reliable which is what I am counting on. PCDFX VRM runs great on the new system.

Mark:

I have been using an HP5120 with my laptop system and it has a celeron processor. Using RED 5.2 and no probs whatsoever.

I've been using IBM Thinkpad (R40) for about a year now and it's been great....with any audio program. One reason I really liked it was the 24-hour on-site repair. I've had to use it once and it was great.

I travel a lot and the laptop has definitely taken a beating but it still looks great and works great. They have a lease program too that I think I'll try next since I like to upgrade every couple years.

Also consider the Sony Vaio laptops.

I am doing PCDJ FX and MixMeister (Dual Screen Video) with no problems at all.

FX and Red VRM do not like Toshibas for some reason. (learned this from another website)
I went back to 5.2 on mine and I'm running 2.4 Ghz-512 Ram.
Never did get it to work in almost a year of trying.
PCDJ claims to be close to releasing a new audio engine that should correct the "stutter" but haven't heard anything lately.

thinkpads rule!

you'll want an IBM thinkpad. solid warranty (3 years!) Even more, ibm laptops that were built 3 years ago still run great with today's software. I have a T23 thinkpad and a T30. the t23 is a machine i beat on, a lab drone, and it just has held up well. Toshibas - i'd be more careful on. a friend gave me their toshiba to see if i could fix, just 1 month out of warranty, it won't power up. tried differnt power supplies, no go. the lights just blink then everything shuts down.

cool thing about the think pad - they're light. :) the screens alone would put the others to shame.

try one. you won't be dissapointed. :)

I have a Toshiba running a celeron processor. No skips, stutters or bumps. I had to reinstall to get it that way but it works like a charm now. And yes, it is a dual purpose machine. I surf the net, do my taxes and graphics on it. BUT, I tried it on a friends Toshiba.....P4.....no luck!

Just get a machine that you like and go from there!
