Been out of the loop on teen dances for a few years but that seems like a lot of oldies. Not saying it's bad but surprising. I probably haven't played Purple Rain at an event in the last 25 years. Nice variety of music.

All good and fun songs. I like it! (I'm guessing Downtown Funk mean Uptown Funk :) )

It's been said before, but teen dances aren't just playing what's on the radio - they want to have fun, and want a mix of stuff. I had the top 40 radio station on about an hour yesterday (Ryan Seacrest syndication), and heard "Yeah", "Raise Your Glass", and "Shake ya Tailfeather" Nelly ...... so even Top 40 includes throwbacks.

@Mark Evans - I had a request for Purple Rain at an 8th grade dance Friday night - Prince is trending now. (I didn't have time to play it - but I did play let's Go Crazy)

And WHERE is Alma MI ?!
My wife and I just made the decision to STOP doing school events (includes middle and high school dances). I love that list of songs, but I'd had been shot in my neck of the woods if I played that. We live in a pretty rural area, and the kids like their country and rap. Lots and lots of rap. I have to throw out at least half of of the requests I get because the songs are centered around sex and drugs. Sure, there are clean versions (I use Promo Only), but this doesn't get around the fact that so many of the songs are on that DO NOT PLAY LIST from School Dance Network. Maybe it's about seeking out the right schools, but ultimately, it's just not worth the added stress and work. We'll stick to weddings :)
