White Wedding With a Capital "W"

I was gonna share these a while ago but I lost the wire to connect my camera to my computer and found it last weekend.
Here are some pics I took at a wedding I did a couple of months ago.
The room is draped wall to wall with white fabric. There is one picture with a seminar happening in the room to give you an idea what it looks like without all of the draping.
It is at the Brevard Zoo's Nyami Nyami River Lodge. There's a deck out back overlooking rhinos and giraffes where the ceremony took place. There were 2 caricature artists drawing the guests as a gift to the guests. A string quartet for ceremony and cocktail hr. A butterfly dancer during the ceremony + butterfly release. I played some of the ceremony music plus provided sound support for a guitar soloist.
A confetti blast from 3 angles as the Groom dipped his Wife at the end of the 1st dance.
PLUS they had a GREAT George W. Bush impersonator who was surprisingly funny. I played a video of him which was set up to make the guests believe it was via. satellite, then the GWB entertainer entered the room escorted by Secret Service.

The client was heart-set on having everything in the room white.

I set up in the corner and hid my EV ZX1s behind the drapes, hid my sub behind the draping behind me and had a simple light set-up peeking out of the drapes behind me.

It was a great dancing crowd too. Added plus.

    Shoot!

Shoot! I forgot to post the close up of my set up.

The dancefloor lights are ADJ LED Agressor, and a Micro Galaxian is sitting on top of the Aggressor.

yes - White Wedding indeed! (They should've asked the guests to wear white!)

Thanks for posting - looks like your couple went all out to transform the room and give their guests a memorable celebration... I bet they had a great time!

I used an extra long monitor cable so I could play the movie on the in house projector without leaving my DJ area. I configured a freeware program called VLC so I could play it full screen without any on screen display other than just the video. Then I paused the video right before the Prez stepped in front of the camera so just the Prez. Seal was showing. Then when it was showtime I pushed the button to activate the screen-lowering and projector on, went to my computer and switched over the video and had the player configured to play by just pressing the space bar with no on screen display popping up. It was really clean. The audio played out of my DJ system.

I'll probably be lectured for saying this, but...
I put a lot of extra work into this event, including driving to 3 meetings with the client, several phone conversations. Buying a 50' monitor cable, agreeing to play the video on the in house projector with my laptop at no extra cost, spent about an hour at home testing to make sure the video presentation would be seamless and flawless. He had a professional videographer (one of this area's best), professional photographer, string quartet, catered buffet by a great catering service, guest appearance by a professional comedian/impersonator, full room draping, uplighting, caricature artists drawing every guest (about 75 guests) and making a guest book with copies of every drawing, confetti launch by a local professional, wedding cake + groom cake.

I conducted every moment of the reception flawlessly, had a packed dancefloor, and you saw by the pictures I went to extra lengths to make my set up blend in with the room.

The groom even hugged me at the end saying everything was perfect.

    But no tip. ???

Be aware that he hired me in 2011 and I charged $649 for my services which included 6hrs. + ceremony system.
My rate at that time was $649 but this one received a $549 bridal show special for 5hrs. + $100 for the wedding ceremony.

This is not the point of this thread, just an after thought.
But, the venue has asked me to be one of the 2 DJs on their list.
I am now at your mercy.

If you don't think you can or don't want to do something, you are right. If you think you can and want to do something, you are also right.

Let me provide the introduction please

"Roger, meet Skype. Skype, meet Roger" (No more 3 hour drives for a meeting, please! That's ABOVE above-and-beyond)

Yep - you know (and we know) that this couple REALLY got their money's worth. There are a bunch of us (likely involved in this site, and otherwise taking professional seriously) who would've done what you did for this couple ... but .... alas, we ALL know the vast majority of DJs would not have tried so hard ... or been so good!

Tip? I never expect it, and am always appreciated and surprised to receive it. I almost NEVER get a tip the times where I feel I EARNED it, meaning, I undercharged for the amount of work and amount of impact ... like you and this white wedding. Seems like the ones that are relatively easy, are the ones that are more inclined to offer some $ with their thanks!

But, WE here know what you did, and we appreciate it on behalf of that client. (I'm sure they appreciated it too.... and feel they made the right decision hiring you! The future events at this venue will yield more than a buck in your hand anyway)

    Thank HEAVEN for the uplights!
The all white theme may have looked awesome as the guests arrived...
but the excitement would turn to annoying pretty darn fast.
    (IMHO)
    Where's my sunglasses!!!
