Not my design, or for that matter, not my BOSE L1 Compact (If I had one/get one, I'd buy from you).
I just searched Google Images looking for a rear shot of a Compact so as to facilitate the discussion and I found this.
My guess is it's 2 iPods acting as individual player decks, feeding into an iPad which is acting as the mixer, feeding into the compact. -Z-

That's what I was thinking, too. I'm currently considering selling my Bose Compacts, but I'd keep one of them if I had an iPad mount like that one.

Just found this YouTube video posted by the guy who built it. Why didn't we think of this sooner?

Cap, 38 secs into this vid, you will see the metal "bayonet" of which I speak. This guy calls it a guide rail.

It is a guide rail, not a bayonet, which is why I was so woefully confused.

    This is the bayonet piece:

Sarge, there's only one place within Bose where users, owners, and dealers can get parts and/or warranty services and that's the L1 Products Support, Service & Repair Center.

Bose L1 support is available Monday through Saturday until 9:00 PM ETin the US & Canada.

    Call toll-free 1-877-335-2673
