AS mentioned in his post, he didn't have a smart phone. All that droid stuff doesn't apply to his situation.

While I feel your pain, Scotty, it is time to move forward with phone technology. Ironically, my last cell phone was a Flip as well, and the screen died. No tel # backup. Fortunately, Google does a lot of great things so that manual re-entry of the telephone/address book wasn't needed. It took the data from my Outlook contact list.

    Good luck, my friend.

Well....My Razr V3 is still missing and I'm on a "borrowed" LG 9100. (still learning how to use it. )
Until I decide what kind of phone to get....the LG is, at least, keeping me connected. (Que up Stereo MC's )

If your mind's neglected, stumble you might fall.
Go for an Android phone. Sync up everything to Gmail/Google. The added benefit of being able to input contacts on the computer instead of on a tiny screen.

Even the old flip phones have an app that you can sync to back up. Years ago I found programs that would allow me to back up the phone to my computer. iPhones are great but I hate all the duplicates it produces.

Verizon Phones have had Backup Assistant available on them for at least the past 10 years. On the non-smart phones, its located under the "Get It Now" or "Media and Downloads" menu. In recent years, they have provided this service as part of your plan, so there are no data charges for backing up your contacts.

Uhm, in case your wondering, I am the IT guru for an industrial supplier, and I am in charge of the phones as well as computers. We have all kinds of company phones from the G'zone Boulders, to the Droid Razr's. All of them use backup assistant, and all of them are insured.

Oh, one other helpful tip. If you are ever swapping phones, and just want to copy the contacts list, over to the other phone, and not overwrite whats already there, don't use backup assistant. Once you activate the phones under the new numbers and try to sync the phone with Backup Assistant, it doesn't recognize the device, and the only way to sync it is to wipe the contacts list, and start over.

Instead, use Bluetooth, sync the phones, and copy them that way.
