My version of "Wedding Musical Chairs / Scavenger Hunt"
As always, I'm trying to redo or customize games to keep it from being like others.
I redid my version of musical chairs / Scavenger hunt for weddings and I thought I would share the twist to it
Here it is:
WEDDING MUSICAL CHAIRS / SCAVENGER HUNT
1. Item asked for must not belong to you (the contestant) or any other contestant, It can belong to a non participating guest
2. Only go find item once you hear the word “GO”
3. Each round a number of chairs will be removed
4. Those who come back must find an empty seat to continue on to the next round
5. If you do not find an empty seat then you are eliminated
6. Once you qualify for the next round you are to take the item and return it to it’s rightful owner then go find the new item. DO NOT return the item until the new round starts when I (the emcee) says “GO”
7. Winner is the last person sitting in the last chair
ITEM - Camera – Take picture of bride and groom
REASON - Are two special guests here tonight
SONG – Nickelback – Photograph
ITEM - Something with today’s date on it
REASON - Signifies B&G wedding date
SONG – Neil Sedaka – Calendar Girl
ITEM - Shoestring
REASON - B&G just tied the knot
SONG – KC & The Sunshine Band – Boogie Shoes
ITEM - Something you wear in your hair
REASON - People dress up and look good on such a joyous occasion
SONG – Roy Orbison – Oh Pretty Woman
ITEM - Out of state drivers license – People travel to share special day
REASON - People come from long distances for this special occasion
SONG – GoGo’s – Vacation
ITEM - Something there are only two of here just today (B&G)
SONG – Billy Idol – White Wedding
I’m looking for something in the room that there are only two of. You only need
one of the two. As soon as you know what it is go get it… There are only two in
the room today\tonight. You only need one of the two…. Keep repeating
this until they finally get it. It’s the Bride & The Groom! If they are really slow
give some extra hints like one is wearing white….
ITEM - Ringing cell phone
REASON - Call to say honey I’m going to be late
SONG – Stevie Wonder – I Just Called To Say I Love You
It's a rough draft as I am always altering it at each event but you get the idea
Also I'm always looking for some ideas of different songs to play in the background so if you have any please feel free to give your input
Thoughts and comments greatly appreciated
That is a great idea, I love the flair of the bride and groom in it too. Very good job.
I've never even considered musical chairs / scavenger hunt at a wedding.
Do you do this with adult wedding guests, or just at weddings with an unusually large number of kids?
That's pretty much exactly how I do it but using different items and I don't play different songs for each item...so I guess I don't do it exactly....ha.
I must say that I have so many reviews about this game online that prospective brides ask me about it and they love it. I've done this game at nearly every wedding this year!
Basically I ask for volunteers, but I do stress adults as well as kids

Here's one trick to get people in the chairs....before the event starts I place 10 little stickers (like smiley face stickers you can get at Office Depot, etc) randomly throughout the room. Then when it's time to play, I tell people they need to stand up, look on the bottom of their chair, and if they have a sticker they need to bring their chair up on the dance floor and sit in it. I love the whole prep part because you can actually hear people get excited while they are turning over their chairs and looking for their stickers.....
Thanks for a very detailed explanation of this game that has been around
for a long time and is a tried and true "Faverite" for many entertainers
across the country. Job well done.
There is an extensive thread on this game here. And those who receive
my weekly EMail on Interactive Games and Marketing Tips receive a
huge list of specialty items to ask for.
Thanks again for sharing. And I encourage everyone to continue the
One alternative... we raffle the garter around here with some frequency. This allows me to draw 3-5 winners who then participate in the musical chairs/scavenger hunt.

This game is even more exciting when you have 8-12 people
playing all at the same time.
So, if you have 3-5 from your auction, try asking each of them
to find a partner. Not that they will really be partners for the
game, but instead you easily DOUBLE your numbers.
I do larger numbers when we volunteer, but will try pairs sometime...oh, and instead of regular raffle tickets, I use playing cards. Easier numbers to manage, and the bride/groom know how much money needs to be turned in at the end.
