To change, or not to change? That is the question.

For the past 17 years, I've done pretty well with my name. Although, I will admit that I'm not getting the phone calls I use to from non-referrals. I am seriously thinking about changing my company name. My wife doesn't think it's a good idea, since I've been known as the Fatman for so long. My thinking is that since I am know dealing with a whole new generation, some of the brides who don't know me or have been referred to me by others, may be turned off by Fatman Entertainment. So, here's my question. Which of the following company names do you think would be most beneficial to get new brides, who don't know anything about me or my service:

Fatman Entertainment
Odyssey Entertainment
Diamond Star Entertainment

Something else to consider is the expense of changing a company name. And, what is the best way to do it, and still keep those who have come to know Fatman Entertainment? The other thing is that I really don't fit the name like I use to. Over the past year, I've lost nearly 50 lbs. I'm still not slim, but I'm happy to say that I'm not obese.

I look forward to your comments (good or bad).

I was looking for a program to play around with in order to make some mixes. I didn't want anything too complicated (which I find most are), because I'm not all that savvy when it comes to these sort of things. I know about Mixmeister, which I've played with in the past, and it seems fairly simple to use. I recently ran across trakAxPC, and it piqued my interest. Anyone ever use this program. What did you think of it? Yes, I know it's a free download. I'm just getting some opinions.

I have been seeing the Rupert Neve Portico 5045 in all of the major mega churches, as well as on the Falcon's field, and Turner stadium. I could not figure out how some people can get such oomph out of a Lav. I'm damn good behind a console, but there is only so much you can do with a front of house Lav mic, especially if you can't set it for a single user. When I have talking head after talking head rotating to and from the stage in front of a massive sound system, I ride the board with a clenched butt.

I'm not a big fan of "Magic boxes" but this one really is magic.

Imagine getting your lav as loud as you can, yet the speaker still sounds like a lightweight in the bottom of a soda can..... We've all been there, right? Well, imagine adding another 20db to that with no feedback, or background noise?

This thing is amazing.

It will make a lav sound like a handheld.

A bit pricey at $1400, but it's the answer to my prayers.

Just a phenomenal piece of gear... I could not be happier with my purchase.

Anything Rupert Neve touches is gold, but this one is extra shiny!

Read this in another thread and not sure if everyone caught it. As you are all well aware by now, the FCC auctioned off the 700Mhz (696Mhz - 804Mhz) frequency band which wrecked havoc with many of our UHF wireless mic systems. I know I had to replace six out of eight myself. Well here they come again ... in their infinite wisdom, they now want to do the same with the 600Mhz band in 2014. The injustice of this to me is I have four EV RE-2 systems in that band that will become obsolete. Thank goodness I had the good sense to put my hands on four Line 6 XD-V70's thanks to Don Boomer.

I just thought I'd put the warning out early so people can budget again to change mics again ....... Thank you Pres. Barrack O'Bama and his FCC crew for sticking it to us again for the 2nd time in a couple of years. I voted for the other guy! Anybody have any more data to share on this topic?

I ordered one at Mobile Beat Vegas, paid in full (3 months ago now), and have been given no good info on when it might ship. The Chauvet rep at the show as I DJ NOW but they are no help and it takes 3 phone calls and 45 minutes for them to be able to even find my order. I didn't even know I was pre-ordering at the show until I called to see where it was 4 weeks later. Anyone else in this boat?

Hey all! Been a while since I've been around. Hope everyone is doing well.

Ok, I have 2 gear questions, and would like input. I have an Yamaha EMX-660 Powered Mixer, a QSC 1850HD amp, and 2 Yamaha S115's. I run DJ/Karaoke shows and do private parties

Now, I used to run the speakers off the powered mixer only, but, when I got the amp, I started running the "main" output (1/4") into the amp into input 1 (1/4"), in parallel mono mode. This has allowed me to be able to independently control the left and right speaker volumes, where I couldn't do that easily with the 660.

Any suggestions on this setup?

Next, I'd like to add a subwoofer to the mix. I've never used one, and, have NO idea what I'm doing when it comes to subwoofers. Is there anyway that I would be able to add a sub to this existing setup, or, would I have to purchase a separate amp to be able to add a subwoofer?

Thanks to all who respond.
